In the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s home movies were a very popular past time. Many families grew up watching mum and dad and the children on holidays, at the beach or having a BBQ in the backyard.

Weddings, Engagements and Christenings were also very popular.

The movies may have been blurry, have the jitters, be out of focus, and badly exposed, but they are still memories.

In many cases the children who were filmed in these home movies have never seen them, are have forgotten they even exist, or the parents who were in them, have passed on.

It was always a big problem to loan movies to friends because if they were not returned, they were lost forever.

Now it is much easier to share your old movies.

We can transfer your old movies to DVD or USB, and then we can copy those files to make it easier for you to share all those great old memories with family and friends.

Super 8, Standard 8, 16mm and even 9.5mm Centre Perf Pathe and Polacolor 8MM films can be digitised onto DVD for you to preserve those old memories.

We can offer standard DVD’s or Archival DVD’s which are guaranteed for 100 years, and additional copy DVD's are available for just $9.99 each.

The digital movies files can also be put on multiple USB drives to share around.

Video Tapes to DVD & USB

Video tapes use magnetic media to store the image, and this, by its very nature, is not a good long term storage solution.

We can transfer your tapes to standard or archival DVD for much more secure long term storage, or we can put the files on a USB drive.

The main types of tape we handle are:

VHS, VHS-C, Super VHS, Beta, Hi8, 8mm, and MiniDV, but we are able to do many other less common formats.

We will put a maximum of 3 hours onto a DVD, and for the camcorder tapes, we put each one onto a separate DVD.

Individual video files will be put onto USB drives and you will also be given a DVD of each tape for safekeeping.

Transfer to DVD

All tapes are transferred to separate DVD's (standard or archival) in an industry standard .vob format. Whilst we do not currently offer an editing service, you can do this with the appropriate software on a computer if you wish. We can also transfer your tapes to a USB drive or portable hard drive for an additional $10 per tape.

Either you can supply the drive, or we can use one from our stock for an additional cost.

Note that we will still give you a DVD so you can have a digital archive of your tape – it is too easy to lose a flash drive, or to accidentally delete the files.

Duplicate DVD's and USB's can be ordered to make it easier to share the family video memories with other memories of the family.
