Film Scanning & Archiving

Film is still a great way to capture your memories.

Colour Print, Colour Slide or Black & White.

Whatever your choice, we can process it, and then scan it to a CD so that you work with your images on a computer.

After your negatives or slides are scanned, you can email them, work them, or print them from the CD.

We offer 3 choices of scan resolutions to suit your needs.

35MM Film

4base is our standard scanning resolution (1545 px x 1024 px). This will give you good prints up to around 20cm x 30cm without cropping, and is a great resolution for emails to friends and family to allow them to print the files.

Our High Resolution 16base scans (2000px x 3000px) will allow you to crop your original image and for most larger prints up to around 30cm x 45cm, will give great quality results.

64base Ultra Scans are ideal for the ultimate scan resolution (6774px x 4492px) without going to the cost of a drum scan. From a 35mm negative or slide, this scan resolution will easily allow 50cm x 75cm poster size prints, or very heavy cropping from the original image.

Scans can be saved onto CD or DVD, and we also offer the extra cost option of Archival Discs which will last over 100 years.

APS Film

The above 3 resolution scans can also be made from APS Film. The pixel count is slightly different due to the different size negatives, but this great film format can produce great prints and enlargements.

110, 126 and Disc Films

We can arrange scans of images from these films, and whilst different resolutions are available, the quality of many of these negatives does not justify a high or ultra resolution scan.

120 Film

The quality of 120 images, due to the big film format is easily capable of superb enlargements from scanning the film.

3 resolution sizes are available, but because of the bigger film area, the pixel count is significantly higher.

If you are looking at having your images scanned, talk to us first so we can determine the best resolution to suit what you want. If you are not sure what you want, we can do a couple of scans for you to evaluate.

Non standard films such as 127, 116,122,828 and other "vintage formats" can also be scanned (and printed), but please contact us or ask for details on the costs involved.
